Biography
Soyeon Kim is a South Korean artist (1995, Seoul) who lives and works in London, UK. She studied MA Fine Art at UAL Chelsea College of Arts in London and BFA Painting at Chung-ang University in Seoul.
Also Minor at Acting for stage which influenced her to explore Multidisciplinary way of expressing.
Participated in and curated multiple group exhibitions in an unconventional space like formal courthouse and diverse creative venue like match stick pie house.
She actively practices as a performer in collaboration in ‘Make Utopia Great Again’ and ‘Seduction of Artifice’.
Her way of crossing over different medium, utilizing visual and textual elements of theatre and working in collaboration was deeply influenced by her study in acting which could be found in ‘Knowitall bakery’ and ‘Two Suns’
Her inspiration stems from actual cultural and social issues she lived through-such as her firsthand experience of domestic abuse, radical social climate change in Korea.
In London, she experiments applying Korea's distinctive motives derived from traditional cultural archives
in a new socio-political context she faced
